A Luxury Birthday at 5 Degrees

My birthday is in January, so sometimes there's snow and sometimes there isn't. Sometimes it's dreary...well, it's almost dreary. But that's okay because I've grown to really enjoy it! For this particular birthday, snow was forecasted for everywhere. It was icy, it was cold, and there was no way we were going far. Since The Lodge in Richland, WA was close by, we figured we'd stay there for the night. There's a restaurant, a hot tub, and spa, and it

overlooks the good ol' Columbia River. Lewis and Clark would have a field day here. We ventured off with our finest Amazon wardrobe and checked into our room. Talk about luxury! The bathroom was huge and had a soaking tub with shutters that open up so you can see the river from the tub (and I don't care what they say, I feel like everyone else can see in with those things so I definitely did not open those in the bath). There's an electric fireplace and a deck to enjoy the views. Since it was currently 5 degrees, we didn't enjoy the deck much.

We watched some cable TV, something we love because we're millennials and don't have that at home, until it was time for our dinner reservation at Drumheller's. Since it was my birthday, they gave me a free glass of champagne! We enjoyed an appetizer of fondue in a bread bowl, which absolutely hit the spot on such a cold night. We also decided to splurge and get the steak for dinner which was also divine. Also, since I was a doll and super polite, I also got a free dessert! Those manners I learned really came in handy.

After dinner we decided to take a dip in the hot tub. The pool and hot tub area are open-air, which would normally be an absolute treat. You can see the river, you can kick around in your goggles and play
mermaid with a stunning view of the stars...but this night, oh this night was different. It was so cold there was ICE forming from the HOT TUB. Now, a normal couple would have just skipped it for the night. But no, not us. We are all for an unorthodox adventure. We scurried on out to the hot tub (in our provided Lodge robes and slippers of course) and, surprisingly, were the only ones out there. And it was a blast. My hair did freeze and I did feel like I was going to pass away when we got out of the hot tub, but it was pure luxury.
The next morning, we had McDonald's DoorDashed to our room.

Don't act like you don't love a McDonald's breakfast. And then I had a hot stone massage booked in their spa before we left. This was my first time having one and I literally fell asleep. It was SO GOOD. I also was oiled up like a lady going suntanning in the 70s, but I didn't care. I was soft, I was relaxed, and I was ready to head back home from my absolutely bangin' awesome time.
If you're looking to stay at The Lodge at Columbia Point, you will NOT be disappointed. I've never left a place feeling so pampered in my life! Whether it's a summer day and 95 degrees or it's in the middle of the winter at 5 degrees, you truly cannot go wrong. Tell 'em I sent you. They'll have no clue who I am, but maybe I'll get a discount in the future.
